(National news) Economic Survival Strategies for Today’s Current Economy.

Right now as I am writing this article, it is the First Quarter of 2010. In the event this particular article finds its way to the top of an electronic time capsule at some point in the distant future, where the world might look like something out of a science fiction movie, then you now have a frame a reference to go by.

The whole worlds economy is in a bit of a turmoil and as a consultant, we have not see the level of past due accounts, accounts going to collections and basically the large number of individuals that are hurting financially.
In fact, another major layoff just happened in my region. An aerospace company had just unannounced, laid off 1,000 people.

After discussing these issues with a financial advisor with over 30 years experience in the financial services industry, sold a bank in the 80s and was involved with a number of partnerships, I had gotten a bigger view of what is going on.
He himself had faith in our abilities (both in The United States America where I live and abroad) to pull through, however, he stated that the only nation that was really doing well was New Zealand. And further there is concern that we may, in the USA, have to ‘Inflate’ ourselves out of this Economic Crisis.

The method of which the inflationary process would have to take place is simple: Print more money or ‘borrow from ourselves which obviously has already been done, and done too much. Now with that, it was pointed out that the last auction for Government Debt of the USA was actually purchased, not by foreign investors but by entities that lead straight back to the Feds.

Over and above that, as for the USA, we’d have to invent something quite revolutionary, bring back all of our manufacturing or something similar.

Obviously there are very great concerns around the world and the USA is just one country. But right now there is not a lot of faith in the USA’s economy by foreign investors. A website: http://www.EconomicSurvivalStrategies.com goes into some greater detail on the issues of our day, has blogs related to the same, and can provide greater insight as to what we are dealing with in our Global Economic Downturn and the various Economic Cycles we have to go through to get out of the obvious recession we’re in.

The aforementioned points are altogether one thing, but we really have to look at a very important point: The survival of the people.

As there is a trickle down effect with Economic Trust each of us have for another in life, the actions (or inactions) of leadership, lack of proper Government control, lack of proper enforcement and even financial accountability of major business leaders has caused the lower and middle class a rather high degree of stress. As it stands now, in the USA, the only people that are doing well are the rich individuals and currently there seems no real end in sight to the economic issues that the major populace is now facing.

I would suggest that we all live very conservatively and wisely. Managing our money, resources, relationships and time extremely well. Get back to the basics of life. Eliminate debt and keep it eliminated. Down size, as necessary and save. Not ever forgetting to be generous and kind to fellow human beings as we are all in the same struggle.

It is looking like it is going to be a long time before things get corrected and the whole Global Economy goes through the necessary corrections and leadership actually does something that can aid in the resolution of the major concerns that got us in this mess to being with and can get us in it again. I personally see no way leadership in Government or Business can really help except be honest, doing right things, making sure there is ample employment spread around to individuals that need and can offer services, as well as simply not being greedy. The rather ridiculously high incomes that even
Government Representatives make is quite unsettling. Even in business, out side of philanthropic uses, I do not see what such high incomes are good for or how necessary they are. Such incomes can simply lead to more greed and a distorted perspective on what really needs to happen.

In conclusion, we need to simply all work together, be reasonsble, live within our means, not be greedy and do our best to make one anothers world and life better. What happened is that at some point some individuals, whether those in government or business power or simply a large sector of the modern economiclly developed world just let the dollar or currency lead where kindness, companssion and love for humanity should have.

I hope that this article has provided some brief insights as to the current status of the Economy is, where it may be going and some reasonable steps we all can take (I do mean ALL) to assist in the gradual correction of the Economy.

USA soccer is growing

By ScottX

The United States of America has always been a soccer country. However, it hasn’t been a soccer super power. That has been saved for countries like Brazil, England, German, Argentina, and some others. What has been happening in the USA since 1996 is steady growth in soccer. The soccer news coming out of the USA has been positive. I’ll be talking about some of ways the sport of soccer has been growing and expanding in the USA in the past decade or so.

The United States has always had a lots of young soccer players. Most kids play when they are little. Usually the allure of other sports pulls them away from the sport of soccer. Everyone knows the popularity of football, basketball, baseball and even sometimes hockey, trumps the popularity of soccer in the US. So most teenagers or slightly younger kids learn soccer, then leave the sport to start another. Since the inception of Major Leage Soccer, more kids are actually sticking with soccer and trying to become professionals. MLS doesn’t pay as well as other professional sports usually but if you get discovered and end up going to Europe or somewhere else, you can make millions.

MLS or Major League Soccer as it’s called in the USA, is another reason soccer is growing in America. MLS is the highest tier soccer league in the USA. Many people have said MLS would just fold due to lack of interest, but it’s still going. Fourteen years later to be exact. More and more of the teams in MLS are doing better finacially every year and the future looks bright. Every year more of the teams are closer to making a profit instead of a loss. And like every league, it still needs to grow.

Another example of the United States growing in soccer is the 2002 world cup. The US men’s team went in knowing they had an uphill battle against Portugal in the first game. Portugal were the favorites, with players such as Jorge Costa, Luis Figo and Sergio Conceicao. Portugal was also ranked 5th in the world at the time. What happened during the game made world cup history for the US team. Goals by the usa team in the 4th, an own goal in the 29th and a strike from Briank McBride in the 36th minute gave the US 3 goals and by the end Portugal could only muster a goal from Beto in the 39th minute and an own goal. Riding their momentum from the 3-2 win over Portugal the US men’s team in their white and blue soccer jerseys tied host country South Korea 1-1 in a nailbiter. While losing the last game to Poland 3-1 the USA was still able to advance to knockout phase of the world cup because Korea defeated Portugal 1-0. In the first game the USA faced their arch rivals from south of the border Mexico. Everyone knows how great the games are between the USA and Mexico. This was no exception. Especially with the world cup on the line. The US bested the Mexicans that day 2-0 on goals from Brian McBride and Landon Donovan. The next game the USA was eliminated from play by a determined German team 1-0. The US team gave the Germans all they could handle in this game. It however showed the world the USA could get to the final eight of the world cup and still compete.

One last way to see soccer growing in the USA is in the soccer specific stadiums being built around MLS. There are currently 7 soccer specific stadiums in MLS. Two more are being added for the 2010 season. Also, an older stadium is being renovated in Portland for a MLS play in 2011. These new stadiums have the best soccer equipment, seating, vendors and more. Shops in these stadiums carry items such as soccer shoes, soccer jerseys and more. So if you looking for MLS soccer jerseys, you should get out to a game and explore the stadiums. Overall, these new soccer specific stadiums show that american soccer and MLS is here to stay.

Soccer in america is growing. There’s no doubt about it. It’ll take time before the USA can actually have a chance of winning a world cup. But we are heading in the right direction as shown by the reasons i’ve explained here. Before you know it, you may see American’s holding up the world cup for the first time in history. With the huge population of the USA and the passion for soccer, it’s just a matter of time before we are a soccer power on the global scale.

The Good and the Grave of Receiving News On the web

By editor notthetimes

A news editorial written by Doug Gross on March first 2010 and published by CNN, reported that as many as 75% of the population in the United States acquire their news and information from on-line resources as opposed to television or newspapers. Why would so many turn to this new resource for news and information?

1. In spite of of your political persuasion you are undoubtedly aware that what passes for news from the major news outlets is usually rubbish. Too frequently they serve up super-sized helpings of worthless but dramatic reports, while neglecting to put out news that is crucially significant to you, your family and friends. About a year ago every major news outlet was publishing stories about two collage aged adults video tapeing upsetting events at ACORN offices. It was a sensational story that ran for days. Did you learn the later story when the FBI studied the tapes and determined that the young man’s voice was dubbed in later so the ACORN person was not answering the question you thought you heard? While few taxpayers would understand it if our tax dollars in reality were being used to sustain what the video pretended to demonstrate, there is a larger matter here. Why wasn’t the main stream media, both television news and newspapers trying to figure out where 700 BILLION dollars vanished to?

By contrast, useful information is in reality what the internet is for. While it occasionally requires some time, browsing for news frequently results in finding those essential news stories.

2. We recognized the truth in the old saying “Whoever pays the piper, gets to call the tune.” Commercial news outlets have an monetary interest in not offending companies or industries who purchase advertising from them. Too often and often too late the public is advised of a major news event that wasn’t published until the problem was settled. Months later we are told of the information withheld by the key publishers to look after their advertisers.

The world has lots of individuals who are actively occupied in weighty events going on in and around their lives and for any one of a lengthy list of motives, they often want to get information to the public. To those citizens the internet is the perfect medium to enlighten people. There are no corporate obligations to inhibit the information from being disseminated rather just people determined to get the information to other people who might profit from it.

3. But there is a hazard of news from the net as well. Too often well intended to malicious people make up hysterical threats that plainly don’t exist. One new case of this was the “boxcar and shackles” story. The story was that boxcars were being designed and fitted with shackles to haul people off to concentration camps located across the US. After researching this it was obvious that the freight cars in question have been in use for about 20 years for moving vehicles. The shackles? They are the tackle used to hold the autos in place during transport.

Unhappily this rumor got some “traction” and scared people who believed it. So the challenge of using the internet for gathering news is little different from handling a firearm. Manage it carefully, know without question the source, examine and research over again. Information that seems extremist should be researched until all doubt about the accurateness is definite.

Internet news is regularly exceptional in its’ breadth and scope. Using it you will discover information that impacts your daily life and outlook. But do be thorough when you read, listen to or see information that is extreme. It might be right, but it is your duty to study the information. Or, simply gather your news from dependable sources and save the time.

Not The Times is a new source of important but not hysterical news on a variety of topics you can use every day. Pete Orthmann, Editor
